RANGERS MOVE AHEAD IN EUROPE

Scottish Premiership side Rangers FC defeated their rivals ProgresNiederkornas they returned to Europe this week.


However, there is a return leg slated for Luxembourg next week. The Scottish top side can still fail if they fail to rise to the occasion next week.

The Gers had chances in the game but Kenny Miller’s sole effort was enough to separate both sides. The home fans were excited as their team returned to continental football after six years.

Rangers started the game very well as they had strong ball possession. The visitors had two deep players and a back of four to minimize an invasion. Rangers had to be creative in breaking the deadlock.

After 15 minutes of defiance, MartynWaghorn and NikoKranjcar combined very well but their effort was sent just wide. Soon after, Kranjcar, Fabio Cardose and James Tavernier combined but two chances ended up off the target.

Kranjcar was involved in the eventual goal after his combination with David Bates failed to convert. After 37 minutes of action, with teeming fans expectant for a goal, Rangers had a free kick. The Croatia international quickly played the ball, finding Miller. Miller sent the ball past the Luxembourger keeper Sebastian Flauss.

The Gers continued with their attacks but Flauss was not caught off guard these times. Dalcio was denied,Kranjcarthe same and not even Fabio Cardoso could double the tally. Miller had chances in the second half but he could not extend his tally on the night.

Almost 50,000 fans were around to see Rangers play on the night. The return leg is still very open as the edge was the slimmest possible.
