MEXICAN CLUB TARGETS RANGERS HITMAN
Alfredo Morelos had been one of the best forwards in the Scottish league since his move from HJK Helsinki and reports in England suggests that a move could be on the cards this summer.
It is reported that former Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha wants to launch an audacious bid for the Colombian forward. Morelos is on the radar of plenty of clubs all over the globe this summer after scoring 30 goals in 49 league and cup encounters for Rangers.
However, he remains an enigma due to his indiscipine receiving as many as 5 red cards last season with the player missing several games as a result of suspension.
Rangers value the player at £20 million but it remains to be seen if the club are willing to sell for a lower fee.
Morelos is familiar with Caixinha as he was the man that lured Morelos to Ibrox in the summer of 2017, completing a £1million deal to sign the Colombia forward from HJK Helsinki.
Morelos has a long-term contract with the club aftersigning a new contract at Ibrox until the summer of 2023. It would take a big transfer fee to sway the Scottish Giants to sell their prized asset this summer.
Morelos would be taking a step back if he makes the move to the Mexican League as he is getting much needed exposure at Rangers. The forward is just 22 and his next move should be a club that is playing regularly in European competitions.
French side Marseille have been linked as well as Turkish outfit Galatasaray. It remains to be seen whether this clubs would be able to splash the huge fee that would be demanded by Rangers. In the meantime, Morelos looks likely to stay at Rangers unless a substantial offer arrives in the summer. Morelos is currently the top striker at Rangers side ahead if veteran forward Jermaine Defoe.
