Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti refused to entertain questions about the goalkeeper situation at the club by saying that it is a closed matter as far as he is concerned. Madrid recently allowed their goalkeeper Diego Lopez to join AC Milan in a free transfer. However, be brought in World Cup 2014 star Keylor Navas as his replacement. The Costa Rican goalkeeper was one of the finest players at the World Cup and his move to Madrid suggested that Ancelotti did not have complete confidence in Iker Casillas. The Real Madrid legend has had a troubled time in the last few years.
At a time when Casillas has consistently been linked with a move away from the club, results have also gone in a bad way for Ancelotti’s men. Ironically, Casillas has been at the end of some abuse from his own supporters especially after the 2-1 defeat against Atletico Madrid. It appeared to suggest that the 33-year-old’s time at the club was coming to an end. It has been highly suggested that Navas could be making his debut in Madrid shirt sooner rather than later. Ancelotti, though, dismissed suggestions that he planned to use one goalkeeper in the league with another playing in the Champions League. It was the norm of last season, as Casillas played in goal during the European competitions.
"For me the matter is closed. I have made myself clear. I'm not going to fuel a debate that doesn't exist within the squad. I will not speak about the goalkeepers this season. Casillas has a lot of experience, he understands the situation very well and I will sort it out without any problems. The fans follow what is happening on the pitch. If we play well they get behind us. If we are not playing well it's normal that they demand more from us,” said Ancelotti.
