RANGERS NEED MORE

The Rangers manager Ally McCoist has said that he is still keen on bringing a few more players before the end of the transfer window.

Rangers will not be able to sign any players from the close of this transfer window for the period of 12 months after being placed in transfer embargo. The parent company of the club was recently liquidated and the club was relegated to the third division of Scottish football.

The future of Rangers seems bleak indeed, but the manager Ally McCoist has said that he needs to sign a few more players in order to make sure that the club survives during this period when they cannot sign any more players.

The manager was speaking after the comfortable 4-0 win over East Fife. The match was taking place as part of the Scottish Communities League Cup. He has accepted the fact that the club is in a transitional phase, but it needs to make some signings prior to the close of the transfer window in order to take them through the 12 month period. Even though the club has made five signings in the summer so far, Ally McCoist is not sure about the requirement because it is an entirely new situation for the club.

"We are in a transitional period as a club and as a team. You don't lose 23 players in six months and expect to be anything other than that. We've brought five in. I keep hearing people saying we're not going to lose a game but the fact is we've got to earn the right to win games. We'll get a lot of tough games and I think we still need to bring in players. We'll certainly be looking to strengthen the squad," said the manager after the 4-0 win.
